Introducing Ana

Meet Ana Gamero, Steel Chicks mentee, apprentice, and passionate advocate for women in trades

Ana’s journey began at a trade night where she saw women welding for the first time—a moment that lit a spark. She’s now completing a Certificate III in Fabrication Engineering at Chisholm TAFE, laying the groundwork and building strong foundations for a career in welding and fabrication.

In 2024, Ana was named Woman Apprentice of the Year by the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union (AMWU). She’s showing how women can excel and bring unique perspectives to the industry—and that age is just a number, and it’s never too late to start reaching for the career you’re dreaming of.

With her sights set on becoming a welding inspector and industry leader, Ana is challenging stereotypes and empowering women to pursue careers in trades.
