Pre-Employment Program with Orrcon Steel

Last week, Steel Chicks had the pleasure of delivering our Pre-Employment Program to a great bunch of new starters at Orrcon Steel Manufacturing in Salisbury, Queensland.

Over two days, participants were introduced to the realities of working in steel—from safety, workplace expectations, and communication styles, through to resilience, teamwork, and career pathways. The program is designed to support new employees to:

– Build confidence before stepping onto the floor

– Understand how industrial workplaces really operate

– Develop the skills to communicate, adapt, and speak up

– Navigate high-pressure, male-dominated environments with clarity

– See a long-term future for themselves in the industry
